Term started yesterday! Normally we are really sad to see it arrive. We never want to go back work. It wasn't the same this term. We were all excited, Mum had so many interesting things we are going to do.
We started the day with some prayers and the gospel. It was Luka's turn to read!
Then we went into the study. Mum opened up her computer.
"I have found a cool looking maths site," she told us.
We rushed over, interested. Normally we use maths books!
Mum showed us the site. "Brainpop, doesn't that sound good?" she asked.
"Oh yes!" we all agreed.
"What does it mean?" River asked.
"They will teach you so much that your brain will pop," Mum joked.
"Let's see, what about this game?" she asked showing us a games called Coaster Creator.
In it we had to build a roller coaster that would not break or crash or anything like that! We had so much, but we didn't succeed.
We played two other games from Brainpop, they were called Carpenter's Cut (for everyone younger than me and Otis) and A Tangled Web (for me and Otis). In Carpenter's Cut you cut piece of wood (it was a bit easy for me and Otis). A Tangled Web was about getting saving a spiders family! You had to use angles.
After maths Mum read to us from a book called Hitler's Daughter. It was really exciting! Then Mum started another book called Refuge. It was also really fun! Both books are by Jackie French.
We had morning tea after that! I made milkshakes and we ate chocolate chip muffins that I made the day before.
"Who would like to learn about famous artists?" Mum asked.
"Me!!" We all shouted and rushed back to the computer.
She showed us another site she had found, Garden of Praise! It doesn't only teach art, but that's what we looked at.
"What looks good?" Mum asked.
"Grandma Moses!" River answered.
We all agreed and spent ages reading about her and her art.
After that we went to a site called Explore Learnning and did some science. After that we started a bit of a documentary about plants.
We took a break to make lunch and ate it over some more of the documentary.
We got the rest of the day off work because of it being first day! I hope the rest of the term is this fun.
